Roads and traffic management have been a consistent focus of community and stakeholder feedback — particularly in relation to construction impacts and long-term safety.
We’ve heard the importance of upgrading local roads, managing truck movements responsibly, and ensuring that any road improvements deliver lasting benefits for the community.
During construction, the project will generate increased vehicle movements associated with workforce transport, materials delivery and equipment haulage. The project team is working closely with local and state road authorities to identify suitable routes, schedule deliveries at appropriate times, and design access points that minimise disruption to residents and other road users.
Detailed traffic impact assessments are being undertaken as part of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to understand:
- Likely traffic volumes during peak construction periods.
- The condition and capacity of local and regional roads.
- Potential safety risks and mitigation measures.
- Opportunities for coordinated upgrades with other projects or planned council works.
Community feedback has emphasised the need for clear communication about road changes, construction timing, and the importance of maintaining safe access for school buses, cyclists, and emergency services.
Supporting safe travel — particularly for young and inexperienced drivers — has also been a strong theme. The project will continue to work with local councils, schools, and community groups to share information and promote road-safety awareness throughout construction.
