We’re putting forward an alternative town site for worker accommodation as part of the Lake Lyell Pumped Hydro project — and we want to hear your thoughts.

After listening to the community, we've identified a second location within the Lithgow CBD that could bring greater economic benefits to local businesses, from the 500 workers based here over the 5-year construction period.

Two sites are now under consideration in the Environmental Impact Statement:

  1. Lake Lyell site – Magpie Hollow Road, South Bowenfels (Preferred Site)
  2. In-town site – Former Pottery Estate, Silcock Street (New Alternative Site)

We're seeking your feedback to help ensure the in-town site, if chosen, is designed to minimise neighbourhood impacts while maximising local benefits.

Why the Pottery Estate site?

  • Boosts local business
  • Close to infrastructure and amenities
  • Safe, secure, and self-contained
  • Future use potential post-construction
  • Supports protection of local heritage

Tell us what you think! community@energyaustralia.com.au

Energy Australia acknowledges that the site of the proposed Lake Lyell Pumped Hydro project is on the traditional Country of the Wiradjuri People. We recognise their continued connection to land, waterways and community, and we pay our respects to Elders past and present.
